THE FABRIC: THE EXCELLENCE OF OPENABLE DOUBLE-FACE CONSTRUCTION
A masterpiece of textile engineering created by the prestigious Biella-based Lanificio Colombo (from production surplus stock, unsigned and without labels) exclusively for Dior collections. This fabric embodies the essence of contemporary luxury, combining the nobility of exceptionally fine cashmere (50%) with the resilient structure of virgin wool (50%).
Its defining feature is the Openable Double-Face construction: two masterfully bonded layers that can be separated along the edges, allowing for invisible hand-finished tailoring and exceptionally refined unlined garments.
- Couture Shade: A sophisticated ivory tone enhanced by an almost imperceptible powdery undertone, an iconic and distinctive nuance reminiscent of the refined colour palettes seen in Dior runway collections.
- Texture and Lustre: The fabric has an exceptionally closely shorn, compact and pressed-flat finish, inspired by the sophisticated character of traditional Drap cloth. Despite its substantial weight, it does not appear bulky or excessively thick. Its important weight of 610 grams per linear metre provides excellent warmth and thermal protection.
- Optical Effect: The surface is predominantly matte, yet reveals a subtle luminosity that comes alive with movement and reflected light, giving the finished garment added depth and three-dimensionality.
Thanks to its openable construction and substantial weight combined with a visually flat profile, this fabric is ideal for clean, structured, unisex tailoring without excessive volume:
- Unlined Double-Face Coats: Ideal for wrap coats, clean-lined tailored coats and peacoats where the internal seams remain invisible through meticulous hand-finishing.
- Modern, Compact Outerwear: Long men’s or women’s coats with geometric, streamlined silhouettes.
- Jackets, Heavy Outerwear and Trench Coats: Garments requiring strong protection from the cold while maintaining fluid, sleek lines without unnecessary bulk.
Specialist Care and Maintenance
To preserve the flat finish, the compact double-face structure and the delicacy of the colour:
- Cleaning: Professional gentle dry cleaning only.
- Drying: Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry.
- Ironing: Iron at low temperature, always using a protective pressing cloth. Avoid excessive pressure, which may alter the fabric’s closely shorn surface texture.
